Ring in the New Year, cheer at the Sugar Bowl, or do both!

Posted on: December 9, 2013 | Posted in: News

In what will be a rare meeting between two of the nation’s most storied college football programs, No. 3 Alabama will face off with No. 11 Oklahoma at the 2014 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 2.

Alabama was ranked No. 1 all season and seemed National Championship bound for a third straight year before falling to No. 2 Auburn, which was ranked fourth at the time the two teams played.

Alabama (11-1) and Oklahoma (10-2) have only played ever each other five times. The last game between the two teams was in 2003, when Oklahoma beat Alabama 20-13.

The game is sure to be exciting, and there’s no better place to watch two great teams battle it out than in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Even if the weather is rainy and/or cools down, the weather is always perfect inside the dome. Plus, it’s also walking distance from the French Quarter.

Since the game is so close to New Year’s Eve, we suggest coming early and kicking off 2014 New Orleans style! The Crescent City Countdown is a huge celebration across New Orleans. There will be stages set up with live music, a unique fleur de lis drop hosted by the Mayor, and midnight fireworks over the Mississippi, which is choreographed to soulful New Orleans music.

Think about the ball drop in New York City, but with a lot more music, food and New Orleans personality.

Hotel Provincial is the perfect place to stay during these events. Since we’re in the middle of the French Quarter, both the New Year’s Eve events and the Sugar Bowl are within walking distance. You can stay, eat, sleep, drink, watch football, celebrate and ring in the new year all without having to move  your car.

We still have a few rooms available for New Year’s Eve and the Sugar Bowl. This is a popular time to stay in the city though, so if you’re thinking about making a trip down for either event, then the time to book is now.

You can search for and book a room on our website, or give us a call at (504) 581-4995 to speak with one of staff members about availability.

We can’t wait to see you!
