My sister and I just spent our 7th stay at the Hotel Provincial last month. There are no words to describe just how WONDERFUL this place is, but Ill try! Starting from the moment one walks in, you are greeted by the nicest, friendliest, most helpful staff of ANY hotel youll ever visit! Sherlane at the front desk is INCREDIBLE! What an amazing lady! She is willing to go out of her way to help anyone with anything! She works so hard (both front desk and breakfast) and I guess that leads me to breakfast. While you dont get eggs Benedict, (lol) the Provincial serves one of the nicest, most well laid out Continental Breakfasts ever. Toast, bagels, muffins, eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice and more. Its now laid out on the counter of the new Ice House Barwhich leads me to that! WHAT A FANTASTIC bar!!!! The drinks are better there than ANYWHERE in NOLA! The bartender, ATN, makes the best juice-based Hurricane I have EVER had! Beats Lafittes HANDS DOWN! The Bloody Marys are also AWESOME! Very strong and spicy! Its so wonderful to have a bar right in the lobby! It makes for a great convenience for late night drinks in the courtyard. And speaking of the courtyard.people can say what they want about how lovely other hotels are, but the Provincials is the BEST! The courtyard sitting are is separated from the pool area, which is pretty vital when you want to just sit with friends, talk and relax over a drink from the Ice House Bar without kids running around screeching at a pool! The pool area is also lovely for those who want to swim or have kids who do. The furniture at the courtyard is white wrought iron, and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful foliage of trees, flowers, plants and palms ever! A splashing fountain in the center (with cute little frogs spitting water into it) and gas lamps are the final perfect touch to what I truly believe is the most beautiful courtyard in New Orleans. The location is perfect. Two short blocks from the craziness of Bourbon Street, in the quiet lower end, across the street from the French Market, and a few short blocks to Frenchman Street for those who like late night live Jazz. The rooms are PERFECT!!!! The whole place had been remodeled, and tho I liked it the old way, the new is more elegant and comfortable! The beds are the most incredibly perfect beds I have EVER slept in (still trying to figure out how I can smuggle one home in my suitcase! LOL!) Not too soft, not too hard, covered top and bottom in light feather comforters and paddingboth regular and feather pillows if it was not for the French Quarter being right outside the door, its the kind of bed you could stay in all day!!! The bathrooms are all redone in ceramic and tile, with beautiful tubs you can soak in and a big lighted mirror I by the sink. Housekeeping provides tons of soft, fluffy towels and beautiful soaps (one smells like lily of the valley) and they keep the rooms nice and clean. ALL of the staff is amazing! Kind and helpful, remembering who you are on sight. Weve had the pleasure of meeting Bryan, the General Manager, who honestly CARES about his guests, staff, and hotel, as well as Margie, the Director of Sales, who is the most wonderful and helpful lady! If we could get the beds, Margie and Sherlane in our suitcases to smuggle back home, Toronto would be perfect! Since thats not possible, well have to keep going back to our other home, The Provincial, to see and to share time with the wonderful friends weve made there in our 7 stays. We would NEVR consider another hotel. If you havent stayed at the Provincial, youve missed out on a lot of the magic the city has to offer! Our thanks to everyone there for making us feel so at HOME!!!!
