Almost 40 top performers will be taking to the stage August 3-5 for the annual Satchmo Summerfest, a fun festival honoring the most famous New Orleanian of all time, Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong. Put on by the people behind French Quarter Fest, it’s the perfect way to celebrate your love of all things New Orleans. Make Hotel Provincial your home base and make reservations now!
Grammy winner Irma Thomas, Charmaine Neville, the Preservation Brass Band, Ellis Marsalis and many others will gather in the Vieux Carré for three days of food and fun. One of the highlights of the weekend will be a Trumpet Tribute to Louis Armstrong with Ashland Parker.
The Kickoff Party and the Spirit of Satchmo Awards will take place on August 2. This is your chance to enjoy a night of music with John Boutté. And you won't want to miss the annual Jazz Mass with the Treme Brass Band on Sunday, August 5. After the mass, be part of the "Satchmo Salute" second line parade with the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club, Million Dollar Baby Dolls, Al "Carnival Time" Johnson and others. You're also invited to attend discussions on Amstrong's life and legacy by renowned Scholars.
There was no one like Louis Armstrong and there's no place like New Orleans. Come celebrate them both this summer.
