Why NBA fans should be planning a trip to New Orleans

January 24 2014 | News

For the 16th straight year in a row, L.A. Lakers’ Kobe Bryant has been selected to play in the NBA All-Stars game, which will take place in New Orleans on Feb. 16.  That makes Bryant the second all-time player behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Bryant isn’t the only big name in basketball that will be heading to New Orleans for the game, though. The New Orleans Arena, home of the New Orleans Pelicans, will be hosting some of the biggest names in the NBA voted on by fans.

The roster, which was just recently announced, includes names like:

-       LeBron James (Mia)

-       Kevin Durant (OKC)

-       Blake Griffin (LAC)

-       Kevin Love (Min)

-       Stephen Curry (GS)

-       Chris Paul (LAC)

-       Paul George (Ind)

-       Pau Gasol (LAL)

-       Carmelo Anthony (NYK)

-       Dwyane Wade (Mia)

-       Kyrie Irving (Cle)

-       John Wall (Was)

And those are just to name a few!

The game is only one of the events in what is the NBA All-Star Weekend. Starting Feb. 14, NBA fans can see their favorite players in a slam dunk contest, skills challenge, three-point contest and more.  There will also be a Rising Stars Challenge for the league’s younger players.

If you’d like to attend some (or all!) of these events, then there’s still time to get tickets. We would also be happy to host you! Hotel Provincial is located right in the French Quarter, so we’re not far from the arena. You can walk to the game, or take a short taxi ride. From our hotel, you can also walk to hundreds of restaurants, bars, the casino, Bourbon Street and the streetcar line. And when you get tired, you can always walk back to a lovely room that’s been waiting on you.

We do still have rooms available for the NBA All-Star weekend, but you should book now. Click here to select a room, or give us a call at (504) 581-4995.
