New Orleans French Quarter

Your April Thrill List

April 1 2022 | News

Get out there and explore New Orleans in April when the weather is balmy and the musicians are hot (the crawfish, too). The vaccination restrictions have been dropped as of March 21. Here are eight great reasons to reserve your room at Hotel Provincial in April.

1. Hang with locals at Wednesday at the Square

This popular free concert series includes four evenings of music in April. Come see Lost Bayou Rambers + Daria and the Hipdrops (April 6),  Partners-N-Crime + Robin Barnes (April 13), Flow Tribe + N.O.B.A.B.E. (April 20) and Tab Benoit + The New Orleans Johnnys (April 27) at Lafayette Square Park. The concerts run from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Learn more.

2. Stop and smell the Azaleas at the Spring Garden Show – April 2 & 3

Don’t miss the Spring Garden Show in City Park’s Botanical Garden. There will be plants to buy, lectures to help you hone your green thumb, and more than 50 horticultural exhibits – not to mention live music and a Children’s Discovery Zone. Learn more.

3. Rock out at French Quarter Fest – April 21-24

French Quarter Festival offers 20 music stages throughout the French Quarter and features local artists playing jazz, New Orleans Funk, Zydeco, Cajun, brass band music, and gospel. Best of all, the festival is free! Learn more.

4. Go Jazz Festin’ – Last weekend in April/First weekend in May

This 8-day fest is one of the highlights of life in the Big Easy. Come experience the legendary food, art and music (and not always in that order). Here's your chance to see big international stars along with all your favorite Louisiana performers. Learn more and see the complete Jazz Fest 2022 lineup.

5. Line up for the Caesar's Sportsbook Crescent City Classic – April 16

Why stop at the bunny hop this Easter? Start training now for the Caesar's Sportsbook Crescent City Classic, 6.2 miles of fun. Register here.

7. Put a bonnet on it – April 17

There are three Easter parades in the French Quarter on Sunday: the Historic French Quarter Easter Parade,  the Chris Owens French Quarter Easter Parade and the Gay Easter Parade. Hop on down to the parade route for the fun! There will also be a Meet the Bunny at the River Jazz Brunch Cruise aboard the Riverboat City of New Orleans. Learn more.

Note: It is with great sadness that we report that New Orleans icon Chris Owens passed away on April 5th. We will keep you posted as to the status of her famous Easter parade.

8. Swing over to the Zurich Classic – April 18-24

Every year, the Zurich Classic, a leg of the PGA Tour, is played at the TPC of Louisiana, just 15 miles from downtown New Orleans. Since it’s New Orleans, you can expect food as great as the golf. Learn more.
